About

This site is dedicated to the exploration of the actor model of computation and its applications in the design and implementation of reliable, scalable, massively-concurrent computer systems. Most code examples are presented in Humus, a language designed to cleanly describe actor behaviors.

Dale Schumacher, the primary author/editor, is passionate about finding ways to increase the leverage of computer technology as a tool for enhancing human capability. His professional interests include lean and agile software development methods, models of computation, computer languages, operating systems, artificial intelligence, computer graphics, simulation and visualization, embedded systems, parallel and distributed applications, enterprise scalability, and system modeling. He believes in the value of craftsmanship and the importance of building trust through transparency in communication. Correspondence, especially from collaborators, is welcome via his email address: dale[dot]schumacher[at]gmail[dot]com
